Residents Given 2 Weeks To Vacate Homes In Woodridge

WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge residents were recently given two weeks to vacate their homes, so the homeowners' association can shut off the facility's water until spring 2022 to avoid freezing pipes as crews continue to work to repair damage from an EF-3 tornado in June. Village officials recently announced that they are working with the relief fund, Woodridge Neighbors Helping Neighbors, to help connect residents from Country Club Townhomes with caseworkers as the holidays loom.

MC Properties, which manages the complex, informed residents Dec. 2 that they must find interim lodging by Dec. 17, according to the village of Woodridge.

As families continue to work to make housing arrangements, as many as 30 impacted residents have sought help via the village, a news release said. Those who need assistance are encouraged to contact the village's direct help line at 630-719-2496 and speak with a representative that will connect them to a caseworker to help with the necessary resources.

The deadly June 20 tornado damaged hundreds of homes in Naperville and Woodridge and injured at least 11 people.

“The giving spirit is strong in Woodridge following the June 20 tornado, and we are deeply saddened that our Woodridge Country Club neighbors are going through such a difficult time right now – especially during the holiday season,” Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham said in a statement.

She added, “The Woodridge Neighbors Helping Neighbors initiative, in close cooperation with our non-profit partners, continues to support our neighbors that need it the most following the tornado. Please, I encourage those needing help to contact the Village’s assistance line. We are a resilient community in Woodridge – one that stands ready to help our neighbors in need.”
