WOODRIDGE, IL — Police in Woodridge recently handed out 45 tickets as part of a holiday crackdown that ran from Dec. 16 through Jan. 2. The crackdown, part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns, focused on impaired drivers and drivers who committed seatbelt violations.
During the crackdown, Woodridge police say they put extra emphasis on key holiday nights and during late-night hours when the majority of impaired driving and unbuckled seatbelt fatalities took place. In total, Woodridge cops issued:
- 8 seatbelt tickets
- 13 speeding tickets
- 24 other tickets that included an arrest for driving on a suspended license
In a statement, Woodridge Police Department Deputy Chief Stefanson said, "We can’t stress this enough: Impaired driving is deadly, illegal behavior, and it puts the driver, passengers and other road users at risk. The‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign helps our law enforcement officers address this problem head on. Because of this special enforcement effort, our roads were safer for the holidays."
