Woodridge Garden Club Donates 101 Pounds of Produce
The park district club grew the fresh produce for the West Suburban Community Pantry
This summer, the Woodridge Park District’s Garden Club maintained a garden plot and donated all the produce to the West Suburban Community Pantry (WSCP) for client distribution. According to Kristin Jachymiak, Director of Operations for the WSCP, the club grew and donated 101 pounds of fresh produce including lettuce, tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, cucumbers, beans and summer and spaghetti squash.
The 2019 garden season just wrapped up, but the Woodridge Park District Garden Club and the West Suburban Community Pantry are already working on their 2020 partnership to continue providing for the community. The Garden Club currently consists of five Woodridge Park District residents who meet on Saturday mornings at the Town Centre Garden Plots, which are located on two acres of land east of Woodridge Drive and south of Center Drive. They also meet the first Thursday of every month at the Community Center. Anyone interested in joining the Park District Garden Club can contact Kim Passini of the Woodridge Park District at (630) 353-3300.
