WOODRIDGE, IL — The village of Woodridge has been awarded a $10,000 Urban and Community Forestry grant. The grant, given to just 2o municipalities, comes from a partnership between Morton Arboretum and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

The village will use the grant to complete an inventory of its existing parkway trees. Arborists from Davey Tree will assist the village in gathering info on tree species and current conditions, in addition to identifying future planting sites.

In a statement, Woodridge Mayor Gina Cunningham said, "This inventory will help Woodridge continue to invest and plan for the future of the Village owned trees in the community."
