Woodridge Park District's Kidz Squad Receives $1,000 Grant

The Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) recently awarded the with the 2012 PowerPlay! Beyond School Program grant in the amount of $1,000. The grant money will be used to incorporate health, nutrition and fitness elements into the KIDZ Squad program.
As part of the new health, nutrition and fitness initiative, KIDZ Squad participants are partaking in the Track & Snack Club. The club challenges each participant by having them log their exercise minutes and daily intake of fruits and vegetables. Participants will be encouraged by their peers and leaders with progress charts and awarded prizes for exceeding goals. At the end of the program, the KIDZ Squad staff and the Track & Snack Club will run in the Seven Bridges Season Starters 5K race in Woodridge to show off their newly obtained health, nutrition and fitness skills.

The PowerPlay! Beyond School Grant is a program of the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD). Funding and materials for this program are provided through the sale and subsequent renewals of the Park District Youth License Plate and through Friends of Illinois Parks.
