Woodridge Rotarian Named Artist Of The Month
The Glen Ellyn Historical Society named Janet Hubacek as their Artist of the month
Local Woodridge Rotarian Janet Hubacek is showcasing her art works during the month of March 2024 at the Glen Ellyn Historic Society (800 N Main Street in Glen Ellyn). Janet was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. Art has always been a passion of hers. After her children were born, she began drawing and selling Precious Moments portraits with children’s names drawn into the design. As her children grew, she started exploring chalk art. She quickly gained attention from her neighbors for the life-sized chalk art she’d draw on her driveway. This experience continued to inspire Jan throughout the years leading her to explore many different types of art.
Jan is a self-taught freelance artist who is inspired by everything around her. Whether it be a piece of music, a walk outside, or a new paint color she cannot wait to put her idea to canvas and watch it come to life. Canvas is Jan’s favorite medium to work with.
During Covid she explored painting on plexiglass to customize the plain shields that needed to remain up. She enjoys bringing people happiness with her hand painted Adirondack chairs which have been auctioned at several charity events. Jan’s greatest inspiration will always be nature. Much of her art is centered around flowers and lots of color.

Jan’s message to other people wanting to explore with art is, “Don’t be afraid to express whatever comes to your mind. I believe with art there should be no rules, color outside the lines, be messy, this is how masterpieces are created.”
We congratulate Jan on her successful career as an artist and her major contributions of her time and talent to the Woodridge Community. Thank you for supporting Project CURE and the VFW Fundraiser – Janet is a true Humanitarian who cares about Woodridge.
