Yorkville police volunteers conducted a compliance check to ensure local businesses carded customers attempting to purchase tobacco.

YORKVILLE, IL — Seventeen businesses were assessed by Yorkville Police Department volunteers to see if they'd sell tobacco to a minor. Two of them failed to comply, officials said.

The two businesses that failed were TC's Liquor, at 1955 S. Bridge St., and Speedway, at 500 S. Bridge St. Volunteers were instructed to provide legitimate identification when asked and to truthfully represent their age during checks.
