Aurora's Most Dangerous Intersections
Aurora Police Department releases accident statistics for city intersections through March 31, 2015.

The Aurora Police Department released some sobering statistics on the police Facebook page listing the intersections with the most crashes through March 31, 2015.
To date, at least three accidents with fatalities have occurred on Aurora streets and roads this year, including:
A Chicago woman died in an early morning crash that seriously injured four others on March 7, near Front Street and Farnsworth Avenue. Reports at the time indicated that alcohol and excessive speed may have been been involved.

An 89-year-old Carpentersville was killed and his wife seriously injured in a three-vehicle crash on March 24. The elderly driver is believed to have run a red light at Eola and Diehl Roads. The drivers of a semi-trailer and sedan were not injured. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved.
The most recent fatal crash happened April 24, when a Dekalb man was killed after a another car lost control and veered into his on Eola Road just past Prospect Avenue. The Dekalb man’s wife critically injured. The other driver said he was experiencing mechanical issues with his car and lost control, police said.

Intersections in Aurora with the most crashes through March 31, 2015, include:
1. Eola and North Aurora/Indian Trail: 22
2. Liberty and Rt. 59: 21
3. Frontenac and Ogden (Rt. 34): 18
4. Indian Trail and Lake; and Eola and Liberty: 16
5. Galena and Orchard: 15
6. Farnsworth and Indian Trail; and Eola and New York: 14
7. Ogden and Rt. 59; Diehl and Eola; and Eola and Ogden: 13
8. Farnsworth and New York: 12
9. New York and Ohio; and Eola and McCoy: 10
With schools about to be dismissed for the summer and the weather warming up, more residents will be out biking, walking and jogging in our communities.
Aurora police remind motorists to watch their speed, allow extra room between vehicles, drive defensively, buckle up and put down the cell phones. Let’s make it a safe day and summer.
