Bluetooth Speaker Mistaken For Gun Sends School Into Lockdown: YPD
Multiple agencies responded to Yorkville's Bristol Bay subdivision after receiving a report of a person yelling and "waving a gun around."

YORKVILLE, IL — A Bluetooth speaker was mistaken for a weapon in a Wednesday morning incident that sent an elementary school into lockdown as a precaution, Yorkville police said.
Officers were dispatched at about 10:21 a.m. to the Bristol Bay subdivision after receiving reports of a person "by themselves yelling, waving a gun around and getting violent," officials said. Yorkville police were joined by respondents from Oswego, Montgomery, the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and the Kendall County Criminal Intelligence Team to investigate the report.
Bristol Bay Elementary School, off Galena Road, was sent into lockdown out of an abundance of caution. Police noted there was "never a direct threat to the school or any occupants."

"Our primary concern was the safety and wellbeing of everyone in the neighborhood and school which was in session," officials said in a news release.
Police deployed a drone and established a perimeter to find the person's real-time location and a description of their clothing. Detectives later determined the person was experiencing a mental health crisis and was taken by to a local hospital for a psychological evaluation.

No weapon was found, and officials said there was no indication the person ever had possession of one.
Traffic in different parts of the neighborhood was halted to ensure public safety.
