The designation is awarded to Yorkville Chamber members who have used sustainable and green business practices.

The following is from a release issued by the Yorkville Chamber's Green Energy Committee:
The Yorkville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Green Committee recently presented Art Wehnert, owner of Country Construction Co. of Plano, a certificate designating his company a “Green Business.”
The designation is awarded to Yorkville Chamber members who have used sustainable and green business practices, such as cutting back on printing to save paper, using energy star appliances, using reusable bags instead of plastic, and safely disposing of toxic substances like batteries, copier toner and paints.

Country Construction Co. became a member of the Yorkville Chamber just one month ago. Wehnert said that he applied for the designation as a way of becoming more involved with the Yorkville community.
"We’re very excited about being involved with the Chamber," Wehnert said. "We’ve been building green for quite a while, and this will let people know that we are very much involved with green building techniques and applications and we use sustainable products. I also teach green building classes for the Northern Illinois Home Builders Assn."
