Yorkville OKs contract for more environmental testing as part of downtown hazard cleanup (shawlocal.com) — Yorkville officials just approved another round of environmental testing needed before the long-planned Hydraulic District makeover can move forward, potentially unlocking state grants and redevelopment along the Fox River. Expect several months of soil and groundwater work, IEPA review, and eventual cleanup that will reshape downtown parking, walkways, and future entertainment and mixed-use spaces.
   

2. Oswego Man Fatally Hit Pedestrian, Injured Another After Weed Deal Gone Bad: Cops (patch.com) — Yorkville police say a cannabis deal in a local parking lot ended when a 21-year-old Oswego man repeatedly drove into two pedestrians, killing one and injuring another. The suspect was arrested shortly afterward and now faces multiple murder, attempted murder, aggravated battery, and failure-to-report charges, with a pretrial hearing set in Kendall County.
   

3. At least 5 people booked at a Kendall County facility on Sept. 17 (kendallcountytimes.com) — Recent booking records from the Kendall County Public Safety Center, which serves Yorkville residents, show five people were taken into custody on Sept. 17 on domestic battery and in-state warrant charges. Officials stress these are allegations at the time of booking, and none of the individuals listed have been convicted based on this record alone.
   

4. Piper Stenzel, Seneca shoot to TCC girls golf titles: The Times Wednesday Roundup (shawlocal.com) — Area athletes, including those from Yorkville Christian and nearby schools, turned in strong performances across golf, cross country, soccer, and volleyball on Wednesday. Yorkville Christian's volleyball team fell in straight sets at Serena, while Plano, Sandwich, Newark, Somonauk, Ottawa and others saw standout scores on the course, trails, and pitch in conference and invitational action.
