Ex-Doctor Who Pleaded Guilty To Assault Wants License Back

YORKVILLE, IL — Haohua Yang, the former Yorkville doctor who was convicted of aggravated assault and arrested at O'Hare after attempting to flee to China, wants his medical license back, according to a report. WSPY reported Yang claimed financial troubles as of late because he doesn't have work and that he may have to use a public defender.

Yang, who lived in Naperville, was accused of sexually assaulting 16 of his female patients from 2012 to 2014, reports say, and faced a total of 26 charges. Yang worked out a plea bargain in which he pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated assault. He was sentenced 180 days in jail and one year of probation.

He was arrested in 2015 at O'Hare after returning to the U.S. after a failed attempt to get into China. So, Yang had already served 942 days in custody, meaning his 180-day sentence was already served. He was released immediately following sentencing.

Yang's license was revoked in June 2014, according to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

"Every time I come I have to pay, but since I don't have work right now, it's very hard," Yang said in an audio interview on WSPY.

Yang said there are up to 1,000 people who don't have a doctor because he doesn't have his license. "They are struggling to find a doctor who understands them," he said in the interview.
