Grosskopf's Actions Caused His Own Trouble

Kendall County resident Todd Milliron claims Oswego Township residents are being shortchanged.

The following is a letter submitted to Patch by Todd Milliron.

This letter is in response to Mary Ann Kils and Bill Penley, who submitted recent Oswego Ledger Sentinel Letters to the Editor and my full reply below, which is being published intact as the ink version was heavily edited by the Ledger Sentinel’s editor.

Ms. Kils, Mr. Grosskopf brought the disparaging publicity and marring of his name on himself by his knowing actions. If you can’t condone Mr. Grosskopf being on vacation 11 of the past 13 months in Florida, then please don’t claim Mr. Grosskopf is suffering the consequences? It is still business as usual in Oswego Township. Mr. Grosskopf is still driving his Oswego Township taxpayer-funded new GMC Denali, that taxpayers paid for and Oswego taxpayers are still paying for the gas used for that township ride. Most Road Commissioner have a Plain-Jane/base line pickup truck with a tool box and fuel cell that pumps fuel, not a top of the line, luxurious GMC Denali to roll around in. By the way, Mr. Grosskopf’s new precinct residency requirement is now under investigation by the Kendall County Clerk in addition to an ongoing Sheriff’s investigation. As a long time Oswego taxpayer, you are not being critical of this abuse.

Mr. Penley, your conclusions are flawed. You can’t manage the Oswego Township Road District from Mars. No one said the Oswego Township Road Department was not doing good work. The real question, is the work being performed in the most efficient manner at taxpayer expense? If Mr. Grosskopf can be at his Homestead Exempted Florida Home for 321 days over past year, then why is he needed? Why do Oswego taxpayers need him on the payroll or pay his health insurance and IMRF retirement for no real work? Most road commissioners provide direct, in person, on-the-job oversight; some even drive a snowplow truck. Mr. Grosskopf has been phoning it in for well over a year.

No one has broached this subject, but Mr. Grosskopf’s son, Aaron, is on the Oswego Township payroll. He earned $42,571 in 2013, then in 2014, while Mr. Grosskopf chose to live in Florida; his son Aaron received $50,052 in annual salary. Why the sudden and big raise?

Chelly Pasdertz, now Mrs. Gary Grosskopf, had a 2013 Florida driver’s license and also registered to vote in Florida, while also in 2013 collecting $24,173 in taxpayer payroll from Oswego Township. How can one be a Florida resident and still draw the equivalent of full-time wage in Oswego Township?

Ms. Kils, Oswego taxpayers are being shortchanged. Mr. Penley, Mr. Grosskopf is not doing any work. It appears his son could be. Oswego Township is not a family business. It is a government body funded by taxpayers who expect it to be done as efficiently as possible.
