Lyle Edwin Stevenson, 86, was an Active Member of Cross Lutheran Church

Lyle Edwin Stevenson, age 86, of Yorkville, IL passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. He was born on February 9, 1927 in Kendall Township the son of Lyle E. and Sadie (Paulson) Stevenson, Sr.

Lyle attended Pletcher Grade School in Kendall Country and was a graduate of Yorkville High School. He was united in marriage on May 9, 1947 to the former Marjorie Ehrhardt and they spent the next 66 happy years of their lives together.

Mr. Stevenson was a longtime and very active member of Cross Lutheran Church in Yorkville, IL where he served as an officer on various committees. He enjoyed farming in the area and was a painter, decorator, and reupholsterer. Lyle was also formerly employed by Caterpillar.

In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and wood carving. Lyle enjoyed traveling and especially his trip to Norway to visit his relatives. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Stevenson of Yorkville, IL; his children, Craig (Linda) Stevenson of Plano, IL, Cary (Denise) Stevenson of Big Rock, IL, Sandy (Dick) James of Kankakee, IL, and Tod (Michelle) Stevenson of Downs, IL; his grandchildren, Jennifer (Douglas) Tulley, Juliet (Chad) Bohnstedt, Jill Stevenson, Dana (fiancée Kayla Brown) James, Jolene (fiancé Brandon Archer) James, Elayne James, and Jenna, Calley, Isaac, and Caleb Stevenson; his great grandchildren, Ethan, Sam, Cooper, Rowan, Lauren, Max, Ross, Kristina, Madison, Lily, and Maximus; his brother, Bob (Doris) Stevenson of Yorkville, IL; his sister-in-law, Joyce Stevenson of Yorkville, IL; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Shirley Carney; and his brother, Donald Stevenson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Cross Lutheran Church, 8609 Route 47, Yorkville, IL with Pastor Erik Gauss officiating. Interment will follow in the Cross Lutheran Cemetery in Yorkville, IL.

Friends may visit from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Pkwy., Yorkville, IL.
