NORTH AURORA, IL - A 26-year-old Yorkville man has been arrested for an armed robbery that happened last Tuesday at a North Aurora convenience store, police said Wednesday. Jordan A. Burgos, of the 0 to 100 block of South Lincolnway, was taken into custody Tuesday night after leading officers from the Aurora Police Department on a high-speed chase. The pursuit occurred after a concerned convenience store clerk noticed Burgos acting suspiciously and recognized him from the media coverage of last week's armed robbery in North Aurora.
Burgos is charged with armed robbery for allegedly holding up a convenience store in the 0 to 100 block of S. Lincolnway in North Aurora around 5:32 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6. The clerk was not injured in the robbery.
North Aurora police released a video of the armed robbery and received numerous tips from the public. Those tips helped authorities develop Burgos as a suspect, according to a news release.

"After initiating a traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Burgos, did not stop and a vehicle pursuit by Aurora and North Aurora Police ensued," North Aurora Police Department Deputy Chief Scott Buziecki said in a news release. "During the pursuit Burgos refused to stop, crossed the double yellow lines, exceeded the speed limit, and drove through three red lights."
He was eventually pulled over at Lincolnway (Route 31) and Airport Road in North Aurora and was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the North Aurora Police Department for booking and later transported to the Aurora Police Department to be held on charges of Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, a Class 4 Felony, and several traffic violations. He is also being held on a parole violation.
Buziecki said the public's help in providing tips to authorities helped lead to Burgos' arrest.
"The North Aurora Police Department would like to acknowledge the media coverage, social media shares, and numerous tips from the public which helped identify Burgos and ultimately resulted in his arrest one week after the armed robbery," Buziecki said. "The tips were vital to the case and are great examples of the public and police working together to make our communities safer."
