Man Charged In Fatal Yorkville Crash
The 21-year-old was using an electronic communication device at the time of the crash, police said.

YORKVILLE, IL — Nine months after a Yorkville crash claimed the life of a 23-year-old Plano woman, a South Elgin man has been charged with two felonies in her death. Ashley Lopez was killed and a 55-year-old woman, also from Plano, was seriously hurt in the Oct. 11, 2016 crash near Route 47 and Corneils Road. On Friday, Yorkville police said 21-year-old Kyle Delhaye, of the 1500 block of Exeter Lane in South Elgin, has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated unlawful use of an electronic communication device.
Police did not specify what type of device Delhaye was allegedly using at the time of the crash. Delhaye was driving a vehicle that struck the vehicle occupied by the two Plano women. Police said Delhaye's car was heading north on Route 47 when he struck the rear bumper of the other vehicle, which was stopped in traffic.
According to police, Delhaye refused treatment at the scene of the crash. He was initially cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
