You’ve got pumpkins around, right? Well, why not take that pumpkin, put some wheels on it and enter the Oswegoland Optimist Club Pumpkin Races.
All you have to do is take a pumpkin (carved or not), decorate it and insert two independent axles through it and attach wheels. Then your pumpkin will be racing its way down a hill to victory.

However, if you’ve got a “cheater pumpkin,” it will be destroyed with a large mallet in front of everyone.
The race will take place at noon Oct. 24 at Main Street and Jackson in downtown Oswego. Registration for the event will begin at 11 a.m.

The cost of registration for adults is $25 and for the kids division it’s three canned goods.
Kids are also encouraged to wear their costumes, as they can trick-or-treat at downtown businesses from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Pumpkin racing not your thing? The Oswego Presbyterian Youth Group will hold a chili cookoff the same day at 11 a.m. at the Oswego Cyclery.
