"There was a woman who came in today and lives in Sunflower Estates right next to us. Says she has been our neighbor for 6 years. She asked me if we are new. We've been here 20 years" says Mrs. Bramel of Bramel Farm.
Located immediately across the street from the Kendall County Fairground on Rt. 71, this place is a little known gem. Take Route 47 to Rt. 71 West to find the farm about a half mile on the north (right) side of the road.
They have apple trees and a pumpkin patch. The display is clean and the prices are very reasonable. Inside the barn, there is a refrigerator stocked with fresh apple cider, bags of freshly picked apples, gourds, squash and more.
Grab a wagon and ask for a pair of shears from the counter in the barn. Then head into the pumpkin patch to find your perfect pumpkin. They then weigh your pumpkin and you pay per pound. For convenience, there are wagons to help you tote your findings.
Let's talk honey. Their honey won first place at the Kendall County Fair this year. It's locally grown at the farm. If your allergies in Yorkville are troubling you, local honey is often a sweet homeopathic solution. Her honey prices are very reasonable. Prices begin at $5. for a honey bear.
It's so nice that you don't have to leave Yorkville to find such a neat place run by the nicest people. Go visit the Bramels.
