A driver was traveling west on Walker Road between Grove and Penman roads when they were pulled over by a car flashing red and blue lights.
YORKVILLE, IL — A tan SUV was reported to have been impersonating a police officer in the vicinity of Walker and Grove roads Wednesday evening, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.
The report came from a concerned driver pulled over by someone who looked to be impersonating an officer. The sheriff's office described the offending car as an "older tan SUV similar in style to a Chevrolet Tahoe." It was reported as having a loud exhaust and red and blue lights mounted in the front grill.
The driver was traveling west on Walker Road, between Grove and Penman roads, and passed up the offending car when they activated their lights, officials said.

Deputies said the driver pulled over, as one would if being stopped by police. The other car stopped behind the driver and stalled for 15 to 20 seconds before pulling out and continuing west on Walker Road. The offending car's driver never exited the car, officials confirmed, and was last seen heading north on Route 47, near Ament Road.
In an alert published around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Facebook, officials urged anyone unsure of the legitimacy of a traffic stop should slow down, activate their hazard lights and call 911 to confirm it before coming to a stop on the side of the road.
