With Spring Break behind them, the Lady Foxes looked to get things rolling against DeKalb at home and away at Coal City.
With a quick and well-disciplined DeKalb attack coming throughout, the Foxes limited damage to two goals per half, but did not manage to put any of their own goals in.

"I feel confident with our defensive mindset, but unfortunately, the majority of our team has that mindset right now and we are struggling to gain an offensive momentum," states Yorkville's head coach, Mike Jacobs.
After the 4-0 conference loss to the Lady Barbs, Yorkville traveled south to Coal City and went up against a Coal City opponent that seemed ready to battle for 80 minutes.

"When we stepped on to that field, the girls were a little surprised at how well Coal City was moving the ball. We had to quickly adjust to that speed and confidence," assistant coach Andrew Johnson remarks. "You practice every day to build that muscle memory and comfort level in case the other team moves a bit faster and more aggressive than you anticipated. I was proud of our girls for not backing down from a little contact."
Going 80 minutes scoreless, the Lady Foxes walked away with a 0-0 tie.
"Not scoring, but also knowing that they too couldn't scratch a goal, could be one of the most disappointing feelings as coach," says a frustrated Coach Jacobs. "That's why we ask girls to put every ounce of effort into practice because you may only get one shot to capitalize on an opportunity in a game. Late in this game, we had that chance and we didn't benefit. One team makes a mistake and the other takes advantage. That's how games are won and lost. Tonight, we had two teams who went at it. All respect to them, but we let a great opportunity slip by. Fortunately, it's early in the season. Time to look ahead."
The upcoming week is a busy one for Yorkville as they play two conference games -- one at home on Tuesday against Geneseo, and the other at Rochelle.
The Foxes will also play two games on Saturday as the first in a four-game DeKalb Barbfest tournament where they had decent success last year. Fan attendance and support has been up lately and the coaches would like to thank everyone for their excitement in the program.
