Yorkville Businesses Fail Tobacco Compliance Checks

A few Yorkville businesses are going to have to start checking IDs a little more after police conducted tobacco compliance checks.

Using underage agents, Yorkville police conducted compliance checks at local businesses. Four of them violated the United City of Yorkville tobacco ordinance.

• Walgreens, located at 1991 S. Bridge St.
• Corner Liquor and Grocery, located at 102 W. Fox St.
• Country Tobacco, located at 1427 Cannonball Trail
• Good Times Food & Liquor, located at 2645 N. Bridge St.

Violators were issued written warnings in accordance with the Illinois Tobacco Enforcement Program guidelines.

The Yorkville Police Department will be conducting tobacco compliance checks throughout the year and hopes to reduce violations through enforcement and education of licensees.
