Yorkville Man Faces 8 Weapon-Related Charges After Arrest: Sheriff

Kenneth Furukawa was apprehended Monday afternoon by members of the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Service.

YORKVILLE, IL — A 50-year-old Yorkville man faces eight weapon-related charges after he was apprehended Monday by members of the Kendall County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Task Force.

Law enforcement officials responded to the 0-99 block of Maple Street at about 2:07 p.m. Monday to serve Kenneth Furukawa an arrest warrant, officials said. He was wanted in Kendall County for four counts of aggravated driving under the influence, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card, and one count of possession of ammunition without a valid FOID card.

At the time of publication, deputies did respond to Patch's request for comment about the circumstances of Furukawa's arrest.

Officials executed a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation to surmount additional evidence that led to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office authorizing several more charges against Furukawa:

  • One count of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, a class 3 felony
  • One count of unlawful possession of ammunition by a felon, a class 3 felony
  • One count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a class 4 felony
  • Two counts of cruel treatment of animals, a class B misdemeanor

The Yorkville man is currently being held at the Kendall County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bail, with 10 percent to apply for bond.
