Election Results: Yorkville Votes to Get Rid of City Clerk, Treasurer Positions
Voters said no to a Home Rule question.

According to preliminary results, two out of three questions put to Yorkville voters have passed.
The first question regarding eliminating the city clerk position received a yes from voters with 77.01 percent of the vote.
The second question regarding doing the same with the treasurer also passed with 75.30 percent of the vote.

The third question regarding home rule did not pass, with 55.02 percent of residents voting no.

1. City Clerk Question
This question asks if you would like to eliminate the position of City Clerk and have the duties be passed on to the Deputy City Clerk. This would result in a cost savings to the City. If passed it will not be effective until the end of the term for the current City Clerk in 2019.
2. Treasurer Question
This question asks if you would like to eliminate the position of City Treasurer and have the duties be passed on to the Finance Director. This would result in a cost savings to the City. If passed the position which is up for reelection in April 2017 would not be included on the ballot.

3. Home Rule Question
This question asks if you would like to like the United City of Yorkville to become a home-rule unit of government. Home rule shifts greater responsibility and authority for local government decision making from the state level to the local level.
