Yorkville Student Hoping to Get to Argentina for Judo Competition
A fundraiser is set for Oct. 17 for the sixth-grader.

A Yorkville sixth-grader is hoping to travel to Cordoba, Argentina to compete in the Infantil Pan American Judo Championships, but to do so, she’ll need your help.
Ashley Klingberg, a student at Yorkville Intermediate School, has been practicing judo since 2011. She began at the Yorkville Judo Club, then spent three years at Illinois Elite Judo. She is now a member at Atlas Extreme Judo Club. She also participates in camps and training at many different clubs in Illinois and around the country.
A fundraiser for Ashley will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17 at Mike and Denise’s Pizzeria and Pub located at 728 E. Veterans Parkway in Yorkville. From 1 to 2 p.m., you can have all the pizza you can eat for only $5. A raffle including Cubs, Sox and Bears gear, along with a 50/50 drawing will also be held.

Ashley is a straight-A student and keeps busy while not on the judo mat by participating in choir and cross country at school. She is also a member of the Yorkville girls sixth grade Fury travel basketball team.
Ashley was ranked No. 1 in the nation in judo for her age and weight for both 2014 and 2015.
