Lake County Sheriff Found Guilty Of Corruption Charges
Chicago Tribune reports Sheriff John Buncich allegedly accepted bribes to help county tow operators.

LAKE COUNTY, IN — Lake County Sheriff John Buncich was found guilty by a 12-person federal jury Thursday of corruption charges, Chicago Tribune reports. The jury found Buncich guilty on all counts of wire fraud and honest services wire fraud, bribery after just one night of deliberations, according to the news outlet. The jury heard 13 days of testimony, presenting of evidence and closing arguments. This included claims the sheriff allegedly accepted bribes to help tow operators get more jobs, and a closing argument by Assistant U.S. Attorney Philip Benson who said Buncich is heard on recordings wanting the $85,000 back that he invested in his campaign by seeking it from tow operators.
