City of Bedford seeks community participation for $350,000 Housing Rehabilitation Grant application (wbiw.com) — Bedford homeowners may soon qualify for free critical home repairs if the city secures a $350,000 state housing rehabilitation grant, and officials need interested residents to pre-apply by June 12. Eligible owner-occupants within city limits, earning under 80% of area median income, could receive help with roofs, HVAC, water heaters, and accessibility upgrades. 2. Double trouble for Lawrence County commuters: Stars Boulevard and State Road 58 face overlapping closures (wbiw.com) — Major construction has completely closed the Stars Boulevard bridge over Leatherwood Creek near Bedford, with work expected to last 30–60 days and limit through traffic to local access only. INDOT will soon add a 75-day closure on State Road 58 near Bedford, plus additional structure work near Heltonville, so Bedford-area drivers should plan extra time and watch for official detour updates.

Castle softball wins 4A regional championship on walk-off home run (courierpress.com) — Castle’s softball team just clinched a 4A regional title on a walk-off home run and now heads to Bedford North Lawrence for a semi-state semifinal this Saturday. Bedford fans can see top-ranked Castle face No. 5 Center Grove, with a possible showdown against Terre Haute North on the line if they advance.

4. Walter Anthony Glover (therepublic.com) — Bedford readers are remembering Walter “Wally” Glover, born in Bedford and a 1966 Bedford High School graduate, who went on to a long career in journalism and health care communications. He helped start Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, served families in grief, and remained an avid athlete and IU sports fan before passing peacefully in Columbus at age 78.
