City of Bloomington to Update Credit Card Payment Practices July 1 (in.gov) — If you pay City of Bloomington licenses, permits, or violation fees by credit card, expect to start covering the processing fee yourself beginning July 1. The city will pass through vendor-set card charges instead of using public funds, while still offering fee-free options like cash, check, or money order at City Hall and Utilities offices.

2. Bloomington to close major downtown road for weeks this summer (heraldtimesonline.com) — College Avenue in downtown Bloomington is slated to fully close between June 30 and July 24 so crews can finish enclosing the new convention center skybridge, with detours routing traffic to Rogers, Second, and Walnut streets. One southbound lane on College will then remain open until the convention center expansion wraps up, currently expected in January 2027 and funded by Bloomington’s food and beverage tax.

3. Boil Water Advisory issued for dozens in Bloomington (wthr.com) — If you live along West 8th Street in Bloomington, a precautionary Boil Water Advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. Wednesday due to water main maintenance. Affected residents should run cold water until clear, then boil any water used for drinking, cooking, or brushing teeth for at least five minutes.

4. City of Bloomington and community partners invite residents to 2026 Juneteenth Celebration (wbiw.com) — Bloomington residents are invited to a free, family-friendly Juneteenth celebration at Switchyard Park on Friday, June 19, featuring food trucks, vendors, and live performances from noon into the evening. The City of Bloomington and IU partners will offer music, educational activities, and community resource booths, with vendors and organizations able to register through the city’s website by June 15.

Bloomington police say Lauren Spierer case remains active 15 years after disappearance (bloomingtonian.com) — Bloomington police say the investigation into missing IU student Lauren Spierer remains active 15 years after she disappeared near North College Avenue and West 11th Street. Detectives are still pursuing new tips with multiple agencies and are urging anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact Bloomington police or Crime Stoppers.
