• Indiana governor announces emergency aid, temporary housing grants amid lethal storms and flooding (ballstatedaily.com) — Severe storms and flooding have collapsed part of Hazel Dell Parkway in Carmel and displaced residents across Indiana, prompting new state emergency grants for food, clothing, and temporary housing. Carmel residents can document damage, call 211 for aid, and may benefit from potential FEMA assistance if a major disaster declaration is approved. State agencies and the Red Cross are coordinating shelters, housing help, and insurance guidance. 
• Carmel High School freshman's ceramic piece earns State Fair honors (youarecurrent.com) — A Carmel High School freshman is bringing home top honors from the Indiana State Fair, where his ceramic vase earned Best of Show among all youth ceramic entries. Evan Tiedemann, who learned pottery through private lessons and a CHS class, used a raku firing technique with horsehair, feathers, and sugar to create his award-winning piece.
• Council OKs DORAs for downtown, Fishers District (youarecurrent.com) — Fishers has approved two Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas, joining nearby communities like Carmel, Noblesville, Westfield and Zionsville in allowing adults to carry alcoholic drinks within marked districts. The new DORAs in downtown Fishers and Fishers District will operate with set evening and weekend hours once state regulators sign off, expanding regional options for outdoor dining and events.
