Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation is waiting on broader creek and bridge repairs, exploring new trail designs and educational features, and pursuing FEMA and grant funding to rebuild safer river access.

• Cold War spy novelist to speak at Carmel library (youarecurrent.com) — An acclaimed Cold War spy novelist will visit Carmel Clay Public Library on Oct. 12 to discuss her new mystery, "The Undercover Bookshop." Residents can hear Katherine Reay share how real-life spy stories and classic British mysteries inspired her latest book and broader body of work, and can register online in advance to reserve a spot.

• Hamilton County Historical Society to showcase 'A Salute to Veterans' (hctv1.com) — Carmel's Clay Township Military Library and Museum is partnering with the Hamilton County Historical Society on a new 'Salute to Veterans' exhibit opening Oct. 9 in Noblesville. Residents can see 250 years of military uniforms worn or owned by Hamilton County veterans, with free museum hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and a special Veterans Day opening on Nov. 11.
