1. These upcoming Indiana tax deadlines are extended due to historic flooding (southbendtribune.com) — Residents of Carmel and the rest of Hamilton County now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file certain state and federal tax returns and payments after August's historic flooding. The extension covers quarterly estimated payments, extended individual returns, and some business and nonprofit filings, and is automatic for those in disaster-declared counties, which are also eligible for FEMA assistance.

Finding Belonging: A Conversation with 2026 Poetry Out Loud Champion Jayda Dawn (arts.gov) — A University High School of Indiana student from Carmel has become the 2026 Poetry Out Loud National Champion, earning a $20,000 prize after months of studying and performing classic poems. In a reflective interview, Jayda Dawn describes how the competition built friendships, deepened her love of poetry, and gave her a powerful sense of belonging among young artists nationwide.
