• Draining of flooded Carmel quarry expected to take 90 days (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel officials say draining the massively flooded Martin Marietta quarry back into the White River will take at least 90 days, with constant water-quality testing. The shutdown is keeping local employees out of work and slowing construction projects that rely on the quarry's materials, even as the city continues recovering from the flood-damaged Hazel Dell Parkway bridge. 
• Federal government awards Indiana $26 million for flood damage repairs (wishtv.com) — Carmel drivers could see faster progress on reopening Hazel Dell Parkway after the federal government awarded Indiana $26 million to repair flood-damaged roads and bridges. The emergency relief money will help INDOT fix the collapsed Carmel bridge along with major repairs on I-70, State Road 38, and several Wayne County bridges hit by this month's storms.
• No. 3 Westfield rebounds from slow start to hold off No. 2 Carmel 38-34 (wthr.com) — Carmel High School's Greyhounds fell 38-34 at Westfield Friday night after surrendering 28 unanswered points, despite a late rally that came up just short. The back-and-forth Class 6A showdown featured big special-teams plays and long touchdown strikes, giving Carmel fans plenty to watch as the team looks to regroup for Week 3.
