Wabash County Woman, Virginia Man Arrested On Felony Charges: Indiana State Police

Indiana State Police: Investigation by ISP official led to the arrests in an alleged 2014 molestation case in Wabash.

WABASH, IN — A Wabash County woman has been arrested on a felony charge in a child molestation case involving a Virginia man and a young female, Indiana State Police report. According to ISP, a criminal investigation by ISP Detective Josh Rozzi resulted in the arrests 22-year-old Matthew Butz of Rocky Mountain, VA, and 34-year-old Jessica Jefferies of Liberty Mills, IN. Officials report Butz was arrested on two felony counts for child molestation, and Jefferies on a felony charge for aiding child molestation.

ISP reports Detective Rozzi began the investigation after receiving information from the Indiana Department of Child Services' Wabash County Division regarding the possible molestation of a Wabash County girl.

Detective Rozzi's investigation found Butz allegedly committed sexual acts with a then 11-year-old girl, reportedly during late march to early April 2014 at a Wabash residence. According to ISP, Jefferies allegedly witnessed the reported molestation, but failed to stop it. Police say Butz was arrested Tuesday by Virginia State Police, and had previously lived in Wabash. Jefferies was arrested Friday by officers from the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department.
