Columbus Chamber launches new fund for small business growth (1010wcsi.com) — Small businesses in Bartholomew County can now apply for support from the new Catalyst 100 Fund created by the Columbus Area Chamber Foundation. Over the next 500 days, 100 qualifying firms will receive mentoring, professional services help, and connections to local partners, backed by funding from Cummins CARE, Heritage Fund, local banks, and others.

Columbus Regional chooses new leader for health system (1010wcsi.com) — Columbus Regional Health has named Andy Guz as its new president and CEO, with his tenure beginning July 1 after a nationwide search. He succeeds interim leader Jim Bickel and brings experience running a large Florida health system, pledging to build on CRH’s reputation for quality care and community commitment in Columbus.

Weiser wins GOP nomination for Columbus Township trustee (therepublic.com) — Columbus Township residents now know their trustee matchup: incumbent Republican Kris Weisner versus Democrat Paul Hoffman in November. Weisner easily won the GOP primary and says he’s focused on reforms after the scandal involving former trustee Ben Jackson, as new state legislation could soon force Columbus Township to absorb struggling neighboring townships.

Cummins Inc. to close Whitestown facility, lay off 59 workers (wishtv.com) — Columbus-based Cummins Inc. is closing its Whitestown distribution center this summer, eliminating 59 jobs as it consolidates operations into other regional distribution centers. While the layoffs are in Boone County, the move underscores shifting operations at one of Columbus’ most important employers and may signal broader changes in how the company manages its logistics network.
