• Chicago Bears announce donation to Catholic Charities for Midwest storm relief (ewtnnews.com) — Severe storms on August 11 caused major damage and power outages across northwest Indiana, including East Chicago, and the Chicago Bears are donating $200,000 to help families recover. Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Gary and Archdiocese of Chicago will use the funds for food, clothing, housing help, and other essentials as thousands still struggle without power and begin rebuilding.

• Northwest Indiana lawmakers call for legislative investigation into NIPSCO's storm response — Indiana House Democratic Caucus (indianahousedemocrats.org) — East Chicago's state representative joined other Northwest Indiana Democrats in demanding a legislative investigation into NIPSCO's response to the August 11 derecho that left many residents powerless for weeks.
