Time travel fiction is a subgenre of science fiction and also my favorite thing to read! Who wouldn’t want to travel to the past and fix a few mistakes or go into the future and see what it holds? When you read enough time travel fiction, you start to notice each author presents a unique description of how the mechanics of time travel work within their story-world. Comparing these logistical details has become a hobby of mine. Time travel fiction can also be combined with romance, historical fiction, mystery, comedy, or action. There is truly a time travel novel out there for everyone! The following are some of my all-time favorite time travel books for all ages. Want more? For Adults

All Our Wrong Todays by Elan Mastai

In Tom Barren’s 2016, humanity thrives in a techno-utopian paradise of flying cars, moving sidewalks, and moon bases, where avocados never go bad and punk rock never existed . . . because it wasn’t necessary.

Kindred by Octavia E. Butler

This combination of slave memoir, fantasy, and historical fiction is a novel of rich literary complexity. Having just celebrated her 26th birthday in 1976 California, Dana, an African-American woman, is suddenly and inexplicably wrenched through time into antebellum Maryland. After saving a drowning white boy there, she finds herself staring into the barrel of a shotgun and is transported back to the present just in time to save her life. During numerous such time-defying episodes with the same young man, she realizes the challenge she’s been given…
