Evansville children invited to enter peace art contest (courierpress.com) — Young artists in Evansville can now enter a new peace-themed art contest tied to an international anti-nuclear initiative, with entry packets available at all EVPL branches. Children ages 6 to 15 who live in Evansville or attend school in Vanderburgh County can submit artwork by Oct. 19, with local winners advancing to an international competition.
   

2. Evansville museum gala will honor Black leaders and history (courierpress.com) — Evansville residents are invited to the Evansville African American Museum's Colour of Humanity Gala on Oct. 17 at Bally's Riverfront Event Center, honoring Black leadership and history. The evening will feature dinner, live music, auctions, and a commemorative program book, with $150 tickets including a one-year museum membership.

Two arrested following multi-week meth dealing investigation, authorities say (14news.com) — Evansville authorities arrested two people after a multi-week investigation into meth dealing centered around a home near Riverview Court, where officers say they seized large quantities of drugs, cash, and paraphernalia. Detectives report controlled buys, a vehicle chase toward Highway 41, and continued alleged dealing even after one suspect initially agreed to cooperate with federal investigators.
   

4. Residents opposing Flock cameras pack Evansville City Council meeting (14news.com) — Evansville residents packed Monday's City Council meeting to protest Flock license-plate cameras, saying they threaten privacy and were installed without sufficient public input. Organizers with Deflock Evansville urged officials to end the ALPR program and reallocate funds, while council leaders acknowledged the concerns and said potential changes are being discussed with city and police leaders.
   

5. Officials Announce Art Award Finalists and Mayor's Award Winner (wnin.org) — Evansville's arts community will honor Scott Wylie with the 2026 Mayor's Art Award at a November 13 ceremony at EVPL Central, recognizing his broad impact on local culture. Finalists from Evansville schools, theatres, and arts groups, including the Evansville Philharmonic and Evansville Shakespeare Players, are also in the running for multiple regional art awards that night.
