1. 7 career-minded Evansville-area students are getting banking training (courierpress.com) — Seven EVSC juniors in Evansville have started Indiana's first high school banking apprenticeship, working paid positions at Old National Bank while earning industry credentials. The two-year program, created with state and banking partners, gives students mentoring, professional training, and real client-facing experience that could lead directly into local finance careers after graduation. 
2. EVPL requests $486K budget increase to counter higher utility rates; hosts 600 summer events (wnin.org) — Evansville's public libraries are seeking a $486,949 budget increase to offset rising utility costs while funding projects like the new Red Bank branch and support for Willard Library. Library leaders told Evansville City Council that keeping growth under 3% should ease state approval, and highlighted a busy summer with 600 programs and strong participation.
3. Evansville's plans to pave over rough tracks on Morgan Avenue (14news.com) — Drivers in Evansville can expect a smoother ride soon where unused train tracks cross Morgan Avenue at Green River and Burkhardt roads. City engineer Brian Mundy says Norfolk Southern will remove the failing crossings and repave in a two-step lane-closure process, pending Board of Public Works approval, with work expected to finish by November.
4. Nonprofit finishes 400-mile river journey to Evansville (tristatehomepage.com) — A 25-day, 400-mile Ohio River expedition wrapped up in Evansville, where organizers are working with the Evansville Trails Coalition to better connect river towns. The nonprofit Ohio River Way is studying gaps in campsites, safety information, and trail links so residents can eventually hike, bike, and paddle more seamlessly to and from the city's riverfront.
5. USI Women's Soccer's Katz named OVC Offensive Player of the Week (14news.com) — A standout week from University of Southern Indiana freshman Lilah Katz just earned her Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, spotlighting Evansville's own Division I women's soccer program. After scoring a late game-winner and anchoring the defense, she'll lead the Screaming Eagles into a road match at DePaul before returning to Strassweg Field for home games, including Youth Soccer Day.
