EPD: Man calls 911 on neighbor for grilling, gets arrested for misusing emergency services (14news.com) — Evansville police say a 65-year-old man was arrested after repeatedly calling 911 from his West Maryland Street apartment, including once to complain about a neighbor grilling. Officers warned him that 911 is for emergencies only, but records show he has made dozens of non-emergency calls this year, leading to a misuse of 911 charge.
   

2. Evansville man accused of punching police K9 during arrest (wbko.com) — An Evansville man is jailed after deputies say he stole beer and cigarettes from St. Joe's Mini Mart, assaulted a nearby resident, and barricaded himself in a garage off St. Joseph and St. Wendel roads. A sheriff's K9 was used to take him into custody, and officials say he repeatedly punched the dog, leading to multiple charges including striking a law enforcement animal.
   

3. Wesselman Woods draws crowds for Labor Day sunshine (14news.com) — Evansville families took advantage of cooler weather by flocking to Wesselman Woods over Labor Day weekend, filling the trails, fields, and pickleball courts. Locals described soaking up rare mild sunshine, playing games with kids, and even celebrating an engagement, highlighting how the nature preserve serves as a gathering spot for this tight-knit community.
   

4. Someone Claims Dark Project Ransomware Added Alurwalls and Master Manufacturing to Its Victim List + Video (undercodenews.com) — An Evansville-based manufacturer, Master Manufacturing Co., has been listed by the Dark Project ransomware group as a claimed victim, though no breach has been independently confirmed. The report uses this and a Brazil-based case to warn companies, including those in Evansville, to strengthen backups, identity security, and network segmentation against evolving ransomware tactics.
