📰 News we're reading

1. Indiana men stalked victim before stealing thousands in violent home invasion: Docs (newsnationnow.com) — Fishers police arrested two Indianapolis men they believe were involved in a violent Sept. 4 home invasion in a Fishers neighborhood, where masked suspects allegedly pistol-whipped a resident and stole thousands in cash and valuables. A later traffic stop in Fishers uncovered guns, ski masks, and a fake ID, and investigators say surveillance footage shows the suspects stalking the victim from his workplace to his home.

2. Fishers road update: Paving ahead at 116th and Allisonville, closures continue on 136th (larryinfishers.com) — Expect major lane restrictions and overnight paving around 116th Street and Allisonville Road starting Oct. 9, plus an ongoing closure of 136th Street between Southeastern Parkway and Prairie Baptist Road. The city details detours, access changes to Fishers Station Shopping Center, and lane reductions near IU Health Fishers, along with neighborhood resurfacing and new roundabout work that could significantly slow your regular routes.

3. The Friday Checkout: Has Costco become grocery's biggest threat? (grocerydive.com) — A new 75,000-square-foot Meijer Grocery has just opened in Fishers, giving local shoppers another full-service option and marking the chain's second grocery-format store in Indiana. The broader piece looks at national grocery competition, but for Fishers residents the key takeaway is a sizable new store now operating in town as Meijer expands across the Midwest.

4. 4 Indiana Cities Crack Top 20 in Report of America's Best Small Cities (wibc.com) — Fishers ranks 10th in WalletHub's new list of America's best small cities, joining Carmel, Westfield, and Zionsville in the national top 20. The study weighed affordability, economic health, schools, quality of life, and safety, underscoring Fishers' strong overall livability compared with more than 1,300 communities nationwide.
