Be Inspired To Become A Leader At The Neighborhoods Conference (waynedalenews.com) — Fort Wayne residents can now register for the free Inspire Neighborhoods Conference on Sept. 11 at Electric Works, designed to help neighbors become stronger local leaders. The all-day event includes workshops, keynotes, meals, and access to micro-grants up to $1,500 for neighborhood projects. Anyone living in Fort Wayne, regardless of prior involvement, is welcome to attend.
   

2. Fort Wayne Gas Prices Jump More Than 20 Cents in One Week (wowo.com) — Drivers in Fort Wayne are paying sharply more at the pump, with average gas prices jumping to $3.65 per gallon—up just over 20 cents in a week and nearly 38 cents from last year. Analysts blame rising oil prices and global supply disruptions, though a seasonal shift to cheaper winter-blend fuel could bring some relief soon.
   

3. Man charged for role in series of shootings into Fort Wayne homes (wane.com) — Fort Wayne police have charged a 20-year-old man with criminal recklessness after more than 50 shots were fired into a southeast-side home in April, tying him to the case through ballistics, license plate readers, and social media. Investigators say the shooting may be linked to an earlier incident and possible retaliation involving a teen previously charged in another Fort Wayne case.
   

4. Fort Wayne releases opioid awareness PSAs (fortwaynesnbc.com) — Fort Wayne officials have launched new opioid awareness PSAs to warn residents that even a single pill can be deadly and to encourage parents to talk openly with their kids. The city’s campaign, funded by the national opioid settlement, also aims to connect local families with addiction treatment and recovery resources through on-air and social media messaging.
   

5. East State neighborhoods project gets $1 million from Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission (journalgazette.net) — Fort Wayne’s Redevelopment Commission has approved $1 million to upgrade the East State corridor, with new streetscapes, sidewalks, lighting and safer crosswalks from Kentucky Avenue to Florida Drive. The project ties into a planned “road diet” on East State Boulevard and follows extensive neighborhood input, including traffic and safety concerns near Forest Park Elementary. Construction is set to begin this fall and finish next fall.
