Free Logistics Training Offers Northwest Indiana Residents a Path to In-Demand Careers

GARY, Ind. — Northwest Indiana residents interested in building a career in logistics and supply chain operations have a new opportunity to gain industry-recognized skills and credentials at no cost if they qualify.

The NWI Works Fast Track to Logistics Top Jobs Training begins October 28 in Gary. The six-week program, offered in partnership with Ivy Tech Community College, combines classroom instruction with hands-on training designed to prepare participants for opportunities in logistics, warehousing and supply chain operations.

Participants can earn training and credentials including Certified Logistics Associate (CLA), Certified Logistics Technician (CLT), OSHA 10, forklift and Work Ethic certification, while developing workplace and professional skills.

The training comes as logistics continues to offer a range of career opportunities. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs connected to transportation and material moving are expected to generate approximately 1.6 million openings nationwide each year through 2035, including openings created as workers leave or change occupations. The Fast Track program can help participants develop foundational skills applicable to positions such as forklift operator, material handler, shipping and receiving worker, warehouse associate and other entry-level logistics roles, while building credentials that can support continued career development.
