1-Year-Old's Shooting Death Case: 2 Men Charged With Murder

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Two men have been charged with murder in the March 29 shooting death of 1-year-old Malaysia Robson, Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry and IMPD Chief Bryan Roach announced Tuesday morning. Darrin Banks and Brian Palmer were also charged with battery with a deadly weapon in Robson's death and the shooting of her 19-year-old aunt, Ana Fox, officials say.

According to Prosecutor Curry and Chief Roach, there were two women who are believed to have been in the car at the time of the shooting, Darrha Banks and Sydney Guynn (pictured in order above), who are officials say they're looking for as persons of interest. While officials say Banks and Guynn have not been accused of a crime, they are being asked to come forward to speak with detectives.

Officials say the probable cause affidavit filed in these cases claim Banks and Palmer are accused of shooting AR style rifles at a home on North Wittfield St. after 1 a.m. on March 29, where the two victims and 10 other people were inside during the shooting.

According to a release from Prosecutor Curry, Banks and Palmer are believed to have arrived at the home in a car driven by a third person, with one of the men exiting the vehicle to shoot and the second shooting out of the car’s back passenger window. Prosecutory Curry adds that approximately 19 spent shell casings were found on the street in front of the home.

Officials say that according to previous reports and the probable cause affidavit, IMPD detectives learned through witness interviews that the shooting was related to an ongoing dispute between several family members and close friends of the families started on social media and escalated to a big fight at an east side apartment complex, continuing by phone and on social media and led to the shooting.

Malaysia Robson was killed by a single gunshot wound. Fox was shot in the shoulder, while Robson was killed by a single gunshot wound, officials say.

Banks and Palmer were arrested by IMPD Officers on April 10 during a traffic stop where officials say a search
warrant on the car led to the discovery of two AR-style rifles and ammunition.

Prosecutor Curry says both defendants have been in police custody since their April 10 arrests and an initial hearing for their cases will take place Tuesday, April 17.
