INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Indianapolis Fire Department officials say three firefighters were injured and a Mayday was issued when a floor gave way during a Tuesday night house fire in the 400 block of North Ketcham Street. IFD crews responded to calls of heavy flames at the home just after 10 p.m. IFD says the flames were heavy in the back of the home and in the attic, where three firefighters fell 10 feet after the second-story floor gave way.
Crew members carried the injured firefighters outside before they were taken to Methodist hospital to be checked out for back, elbow, foot pain and slight burns to one of the firefighter's ears, IFD officials said.
IFD says the fire was under control at 11:22 p.m., but damage from the fire is estimated at $60,000.
