COLUMBUS, IN — The body of a 6-year-old boy who was swept away Thursday by the Flat Rock River was recovered by search crews Saturday. WRTV reported the body of Brendan Sperry was located a half-mile south of the State Road 46 bridge, from the east fork of the White River, according to the Indiana Conservation Officers. The news source reported Sperry was with his mother, brother, two sisters and a cousin on a sandbar around 3 p.m. Thursday when he went into deep water, as family members say his cousin tried to grab him.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help with the funeral cost for Sperry. According to the page, Sperry's father was deployed with the National Guard during the recent tragedy. As of Monday morning, money raised was already over halfway to the $10,000 goal.
