Buster Hernandez Indicted On 26 Federal Charges in 'Brian Kil' cyber threats case

Hernandez is scheduled to appear in Indianapolis federal court Friday, one month after his arrest.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The California man who was federally charged for making several online threats against area schools and a mall in 2015, and several juvenile girls across the U.S. from 2014 to 2017, has been formally indicted in U.S. district court on 26 federal charges, according to court documents. 26-year-old Buster Hernandez was indicted Thursday. The recent court documents allege Hernandez used the online name 'Brian Kil' to make threats.

According to WRTV, the indictment filed Thursday charges Hernandez with nine counts dealing with producing and distributing child pornography, three counts of threatening to use an explosive device and 13 counts of threats to injure, rape, kidnap or kill students, school members, his victims, patrons, police, first responders and others at Plainfield and Danville high schools and The Shops at Perry Crossing.

The news outlet reports Hernandez will appear in Indianapolis federal court Friday.

Officials said Hernandez made the weeks-long threats under the name "Brian Kil," resulting in school and shopping center closures. The Shops at Perry Crossing in Plainfield was also closed Dec. 19, 2015, reopening the following day.
