INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Wayne Township Fire Department reports a young female was struck by an eastbound CSX train between Lynhurst Drive and Holt Road Monday. According to a release from WTFD officials, crews responded to a call just before 3 p.m. reporting an injured person behind 4901 W. Rockville Rd., where they found an 11-year-old girl under the care of IMPD Officer Matt Morgan and a family member.
The young female was transported to Riley Children's Hospital in critical condition. WTFD said she was able to communicate with first responders.
According to the WTFD, the IMPD officer, WTFD firefighters and paramedics did not have easy access to the area, and the quick actions of Morgan may have been lifesaving.
