Donald Trump Calls Death Of Colts Edwin Jackson 'So disgraceful'

President Donald Trump tweets about illegal immigration after deaths of Colts LB Edwin Jackson and Uber driver Jeffrey Monroe: More

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday about the deaths of Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and Jeffrey Monroe Sunday morning, which were caused by a drunk driver, who is in the U.S. illegally.

Trump (below) first tweeted, "My prayers and best wishes are with the family of Edwin Jackson, a wonderful young man whose life was so senselessly taken. @Colts," followed shortly after with, "So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson. This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!"

Indiana State officials say detectives determined the drunk driver of the Ford F-150 that killed 26-year-old Jackson and 54-year-old Uber driver Monroe Sunday was using the alias Alex Cabrera Gonsales. ISP says his given name is Manuel Orrego-Savala, a 37-year-old citizen of Guatemala, who barreled a black Ford F-150 pickup truck into the rear of the car driven by Monroe, hitting both men.

According to ISP, 37-year-old Orrego-Savala is in the United States illegally and has previously been deported twice — once in 2007 and again in 2009.

Orrego-Savala was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail following Sunday morning's deadly incident, when he smashed his truck into the car Jackson and Monroe were standing next to on the emergency shoulder of Interstate 70, authorities said. Both Jackson and Monroe were pronounced dead at the scene, officials say.

ISP says Orrego-Savala is being held in the Marion County jail while the police work with U.S. federal immigration officials.

According to ESPN, Orrego-Savala, who had a blood alcohol level of 0.239, which is nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08, was arrested early Sunday morning when he attempted to flee the scene on foot.
