Eyeball Tattooing Banned In Indiana

Gov. Holcomb and Indiana lawmakers approve a bill banning eyeball tattooing: Report

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — You can no longer get your eyeball tattooed in Indiana, thanks to the Indiana Legislature's approval of a bill that's banned the practice. AP News reports tattooists are prohibited from coloring the whites of a person's eyes, unless it's a procedure done by a licensed health care professional. According to AP News, the bill's approval also imposes a fine of up to $10,000 per violation.

The legislation, previously approved by the Senate, was sent to Governor Eric Holcomb's desk Thursday following an 82-11 vote in the House.

The measure, sponsored by Republican Sen. John Ruckelshaus of Indianapolis, follows several reports last fall about a Canadian model who had major complications from getting her eyes tattooed purple.
