Former Colts QB Peyton Manning Declines Big NFL Commentator Role

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning turns down NFL Thursday Night Football role and a mind-boggling amount of money: Report

If you were hoping former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning would grace our screens during the upcoming NFL season, I'm sorry to report the Super Bowl winner has turned down a lead commentator role on Fox's Thursday Night Football. The New York Post says Manning turned down the Fox offer after the network agreed to pay the NFL upwards of $550 million a season for rights to broadcast 11 games each season through 2022.

But this isn't the first commentator role Manning's turned down. UPI reports Manning previously declined ESPN's offer of $10 million per season, the same amount as Fox's offer, to replace Jon Gruden as the lead commentator on the NFL season's staples, Thursday Night Football and Monday Night Football.
