IMPD Growing Beards, Funds During No-Shave November

IMPD Chief Bryan Roach says police department is participating in No-Shave November to raise money for cancer research and awareness.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – No-Shave November is back - and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Chief Bryan Roach has announced the department's participation in the movement centered on raising money for cancer research and awareness. IMPD says throughout the month, officers who make a voluntary donation through the department's No-Shave November fundraising site will grow full beards. The 2017 proceeds will be directed by no-shave.org to three organizations: Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Prevent Cancer Foundation and Fight Colorectal Cancer.

IMPD says officers are encouraged to share the website's link with family, friends and community members in an effort to raise money as the department works to meet their $25,000 goal.

According to IMPD, officers have already raised over $14,000.

“In participating in this fundraiser, it will allow our officers to raise awareness and money for important cancer research and education,” Chief Bryan Roach said in a release. “As they seek the community’s involvement it will further encourage officers to connect and identify with those we serve, as unfortunately, most everyone knows of someone who has or will be affected by cancer, but together we can find strength to move forward and fight for a cure.”
